Food For the Flies (1965)

Sunrise to sunset
Voices are crying
Cattle are being created
Real men are dying

Freedom is what you cry
Louder every day
Equality is it's basis
At least thats what
you say
"Peace must be our goal"
"It is the only way"
Compromise is your answer
Down on your knees you pray
Down on your knees you'll stay

Let me tell you sucker
Let me set you straight
Freedom is a word
Man will soon outdate
Equality is the flaw
Mediocrity is it's mate
Defenseless you will find
Peace was just the bait
Compromise is king
You must negotiate
You must participate
Perfection is to imitate

Food for the flies

Sunrise to sunset
voices are crying
What is this price we pay?
What is it we are buying?

Our fathers fought for freedom
Crossing endless seas
Bringing freedom based on differences
Not on forced equalities
"All men are created equal"
You've never ceased to quote
You've never had the need
To sink or swim, just float
As you continue to buy the vote

While others found the challenge
And bridged impossible moats
You sat idle in the wastelands
you dreamed you built a boat
A boat with a mast of half-truths
A hull of hard-packed lies
You sit on the sands of all-times
You sit and you draw the flies

Food for the flies

Sunset to sunrise
Voices are crying
Free enterprise is dead
The Constitution is dying

Many men have tried it
Marx wrote the creed
From each according to ability
To each according to need
Socialism is what I call it
It was easy to plant the seed
Watered by the War on Poverty
Its the Great Societies weed
Your minds you did not heed
Now others own the deed
